The list is impressive and here are a few of them:
Nationally-
David Sirota is and has been a defender of labor for a long time, in this
post he points out that even the business community is against these
laws.
Firedoglake has started to feature a labor post every
Thursday written by Tula Connell, here is this weeks; it’s about the recent mine disasters in Utah and
last year at the Sago mine.
Locally the support has been overwhelming-
My Left Pinkie explains to union-hater Nancy Cassis what we might be headed for
if this legislation goes through, here.
Communications Guru at The Conservative Media shows the results of
Howell’s recent school board decision to bust a local union and fire 40 union
employees, two posts go into detail here
and here.
Blogging
for Michigan has a been a workhorse for labor and even has contribution’s from Senator
Glenn Anderson fighting for labor and a post detailing Rep. Mark
Meadows fight for labor.
And of course Michigan Liberal has
been at labors side since its inception. Here is just one recent
example. As always the contributors to Michigan Liberal are quick with the
latest news as well, check out this post about the
Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
I am a member of the UAW and quite honestly am shocked by the lack of response coming from the international regarding the recent right wing offensive in favor of “right to die at work” legislation and its accompanying editorials (this one written by the president of the national right to work foundation), articles (this one written by the vice-president of the national right to work legal defense fund), paid advertisements and slew of sister legislation targeted at crippling unions.
In the past I have rattled on about maltreatment among fellow Dem’s and left wingers; claiming that labor was only seen as a necessary evil that did the heavy lifting come election time and then was swept aside until needed again. I owe many Michigan bloggers an apology! It appears to me that there is a storm on the horizon; the current “right to die at work” legislation is just the first step in a plan that will see a ballot initiative for this anti-union law in 2008. I am ecstatic about the overwhelming support that the blogging community has shown labor and I for one will make every effort to curb my venom when I see something that I don’t happen to agree with from other lefty bloggers.
Michigan bloggers THANK YOU!! And keep up the great work!
