Gitchee Gumee

I’m back! The family vacation was spent camping in Michigan’s amazing Upper Peninsula. Base camp was at the lower falls camp of Tahquamenon Falls state park. Great park, nice modern bathrooms/showers and close to the falls (1 mile hike to the lower falls). I am a city boy. However, the sites and scenery of the U.P. were absolutely stunning! My in-laws keep telling me what a horrible place Michigan is (of course this comes 1 year after leaving having spent most of their lives living here and raising their children here.) I think if you can’t see the wonder and awe-inspiring beauties that Michigan has you’re not looking!

Here are a few shots from the trip. Up top is Miner's Castle or Castle Rock.

Below is Lover's Leap.
Below is a shot of Indian Head on the left and is a wall that according to Indian Legend is stained with the blood of Indian cheifs after a massacre.

I have a boatload of pictures but I won't post them all here. I will be working on a Flickr page in between trying to rest (I am too old to sleep on the floor anymore!) and enjoying the last few days of my vacation. Happy 4th of July!
